We do have job openings for Backup Administrator-Commvault with backup, with one of our Captive MNC Client.


Role: Permanent

Location: Chennai


To perform this job, an individual must meet the following criteria:


The Backup Administrator for the ESS team is responsible for monitoring backup jobs, Service request Management. This involves resolving service request tickets, monitor the backup jobs and take proactive steps to ensure 100% success rate, Client, media agent and Commserver upgrade and patch updates, backup and restore requests.

The identified resource will need to be in constant verbal and written contact with key stakeholders and peers in India and U.S. The resource is expected to attend weekly staff meetings, where they will be expected to engage in technical discussions.

Education and Experience

Prefered bachelors degree or above in Computer Science or related field


Skills/Knowledge and experience

Required Skills:

4.5 to 6.5 Years

Knowledge on Commvault Backup software is must.

Level 1 & 2 work experience in any UNIX and Windows 2k server operating system (both).

Good experience in IBM Tape Library operation

Basic knowledge in Scripting (Perl or Shell)


Backup Monitoring: The individual is responsible for backup monitoring on all the servers supported by Backup infrastructure 24*7. During monitoring, proactive steps will be taken to ensure the 100% success rate is achieved for all the hosts. Appropriate escalations need to be followed for the backup/restore related issue to higher level support and if required to the vendors.

On-call support: The individual will provide on-call support for any backup related Queries/issues 24*7. Monitor jMagic, Alarm point and Service Center alerts.

Project and Portfolio Management: The individual will execute PPM tickets assigned to him for add/remove backup requests, adhoc backup/restore requests, patch update, client/media agent upgrade requests and Oracle/SQL backup configuration requests.

Escalation: Should be able to take escalation 24 /7 related to all backup and restores related issues.

Collaborate with peers in FSC, WSTS, UTS, Exchange and DB support teams when required for resolving issues.

Collaborate with India and Onsite director / infrastructure team on technology decisions and directions.

Have excellent communication skills to interface with Sr. Mgmt, BU leaders and peers across DH.


Basic knowledge in Leagto and Netbackup software

Level 1 work experience in SAN & NAS.

Strong analytical and logical skills with an appetite for learning

Good communication skills

Flexible to work extended hours (if required) and 24/7 shifts
