Job Description

We are looking for an Infrastructure Engineer for Virtualization support. The ideal candidate will have strong overall infrastructure experience, with extensive VMWare and virtualization skills. The core purpose of this role is to build and support the infrastructure of our global customers.


* Maintains a high degree of technical readiness, in order to be successfully prepared to support the delivery of customer engagements using the latest technologies. Analyzing Risks, Gaps in existing environment and resolve them. Should have capability to influence others to achieve results


* Take responsibility of one or more than one customer as Single Point Of Contact (SPOC)


* Apply deep and broad technical background and knowledge of industry trends to operate several critical or high risk technology areas/customer groups. Integrate technical knowledge and business understanding to create superior solutions for HP and for customers. Mentor/consult with team members, other organizations, customers, and vendors on complex issues.


* Incident Management: Resolve technical and some business incidents independently or with cross functional teams. Mentor/assist less-experienced team members on complex incidents.


* Escalation Management: Identify, mange, and lead escalations. Work with others to help manage escalations.


* Problem Management: Proactively and reactively look for solutions to prevent complex problems from occurring across teams/technologies.


* Change Management: Independently review and verify changes/solutions of high complexity and risk to meet customer and/or trade/HP Information Technology (HPIT) infrastructure needs. Lead or participate in a Change Advisory Board or Technical Advisory Board.


* Patch and Security Management: Provide input to security policies. Proactively monitor the environment for patch compliance. Analyze patches for compatibility with each customer or internal infrastructure environment. Approve patch and security changes.


* Configuration Management: Ensure Configuration Management Database (CMDB) entries are complete and accurate.


* Solution Design: Apply HP solutions or, when justified by business needs, create solutions to meet highly complex customer and/or trade/HPIT infrastructure needs. Provide feedback to create new HP solution sets.


* Quality: May provide feedback/influence change in internal and/or vendor-provided products/service offerings. Maintain / Audit quality in service provided to customer.


* Project Management: Participate, propose, and/or lead complex customer and internal projects, including transformation, across technology/ customers and/or internal businesses/end user’s areas. Provide review/advice to projects inside/outside responsibility areas.


* Customer Relationship Management: Influence with customers and/or internal businesses/end users on a broad range of technical and operational topics. Becoming a trusted advisor to the customers and/or internal businesses/end users. Develop and grow assigned customers and/or internal businesses/end users account relationships. Establishes relationship with client technical counterparts. Participates in client meetings related to migration implementation efforts.


* Teamwork: Lead or work as part of a team, which may be virtual, global, and/or multifunctional, and addressing complex issues. Should be able to mentor, motivate and train the co-workers. Trusted advisor inside technology area and recognized outside team/technology area.


Education and Experience
Minimum 8 years relevant experience within the IT support industry.
Bachelor Degree from an accredited college or university with concentration in an IT-related discipline


Knowledge and Skills


Technical Skills
* *
* Proficiency in understanding design/implementing/Managing VMware, HyperV Virtualization technologies
* Proficiency in building and maintaining high-availability environments
* Proficiency in working in a high-availability clustered environment
* Proficiency in VMware ESX/ESXi 3.5,4.x,5.x (VCP Certification Must)
* Proficiency in VMware VI3 and vSphere 4.x, 5.x (VCP Certification Must)
* Experience with ESX / ESXi command line interface, Power CLI, scripting.
* Proficiency in VMware Converter or Other Conversion Tool like platespin; VC Ops Manager.
* Proficiency in configuring VMware HA, DRS, Datastore Cluster etc.
* Proficiency in Storage technologies (HP Storage arrays, XP, 3PAR and third party like EMC, Netapp)
* Proficiency in Fiber channel switching
* Proficiency in SAN configuration, Maintenance and monitor
* Proficiency in Hardware, Software and Operating System environments
* Experience with HP hardware like C7000 blade enclosures, IBM & Dell Enterprise level hardware
* Experience with Windows Server 2003, 2008, 2012 or Linux
* Working Experience with Networking
* Strong System Administration skills on Windows or Linux
* Proficiency in troubleshooting & analytical skills
* Experience with ITIL processes like Incident Management, Change Management, Problem Management,
Release Management and Configuration Management.
* Good in documentation using MS Word, excel and Power Point.
* Good verbal and written communication
